Golf Course Info

Since 1921, when it was first introduced, golf has been an important part of Ruttger's Bay Lake Lodge.

The Lakes

The Lakes is an 18-hole Championship course, was designed by Joel Goldstrand. With two natural lakes, water is a factor on ten holes. Carved from 100 acres of rugged north-woods terrain, each hole will offer you a challenge as well as the beauty of northern Minnesota. You will also enjoy our Alec's Nine course.

Alec's Nine

In the winter of 1920 - 21, Zig (Haas Ziegler) visited California. When he returned, he told of a new game called golf and talked Alec into converting the pasture into a golf course. Cows and horses mowed the grass.

This venerable old course was opened in 1921. It grew from the original four-hole, sand-green layout to this sporty par 34 course.
